Meet the De Pere Smiles Team

Transcending the norms of honesty, innovation, and transparency.

Let’s Introduce Our De Pere Dentists

Chris Peterson, DMD

A dental expert with the Solea laser and infant frenectomies.

Why did Dr. Peterson choose dentistry?

“I love interacting with my amazing patients, working with my hands, and providing value to people through the work I get to do everyday! Getting to meet and help young families has also become a passion of mine and luckily I get to do this by treating infant lip and tongue-ties to help with breastfeeding issues.”

What’s the best part of De Pere Smiles?

“The best part of going to De Pere Smiles is interacting with my patients and wonderful team members! I enjoy coming up with a treatment plan fitting a patient’s individual needs and helping them achieve optimal oral health.”

“My parents always told me to ‘treat others the way you want to be treated’ and I always follow that motto when it comes to treating my patients.”

Dr. Chris Peterson

I was born and raised in Marinette, WI, and attended St. Norbert College to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  During my four years at SNC, I played four years of men’s college basketball, was an Academic All-American nominee, and team captain.  After graduation, I obtained my dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh and honed my dental and surgical skills during a one year residency at the VA hospitals in Milwaukee and Green Bay.

I am married to the love of my life, Rachael, and have three wonderful children, Audrey, Louie, and Greta.  When I get time, there is nothing I love to do more than bow hunt for trophy whitetail deer each fall.  I also enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and watching/cheering for the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Badgers.

My Dental Experience:

  • Have advanced training from national leaders in treating infant lip and tongue-ties
  • Received advanced training in general dentistry by completing a one year General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in both Milwaukee and Green Bay
  • Volunteer at N.E.W. Uninsured Dental Clinic

Dental Memberships:

James Fritsche, DDS

Has been successfully using dental lasers for over 15 years.

Why did Dr. Fritsche choose dentistry?

“I was motivated to be in a profession that lets me work with people, my hands, and stay in the sciences. Many dental professionals greatly influenced me to go into dentistry, including Dr. Gilling (a former orthodontist), Dr. Ron Hubbard (a neighbor and colleague), and Dr. Zovnic.”

What’s the best part of De Pere Smiles?

“Getting to work with generations of the same families and the great relationships that I’ve made with them over the years.”

Dr. James Fritsche

I was born in Green Bay and went to Resurrection Grade School and Abbot Pennings High School. I went to Marquette University for undergrad and dental school. My wife Colleen and I enjoy our horses, dogs, and miniature donkey.

Outside the office, I enjoy flying, skiing, and going up North.

My Dental Experience:

After graduation from Marquette University Dental School, I was commissioned in the United States Air Force and served as a dentist. I then worked in Manitowoc with a group practice and then took over Dr. Stephen Zovnic’s practice. Dr. Zovnic was my dentist as a child.

My Dental Achievements:

  • Marquette University Dental School
  • Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry

Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Why do you like working at De Pere Smiles?

“I enjoy coming into work every day with an awesome group of people in a fun environment. I love tackling the new challenges that are presented to me every single day.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love staying active and busy with hunting, fishing, music, reading, and sports. I love watching any of our stellar Wisconsin sports teams!”

Paul, Chief Operations Officer

I have been at De Pere Smiles since May of 2019 and I love being a part of this team!

I was born and raised in Kimberly, WI, where I have lived for most of my life. I graduated from St. Norbert College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. I also played four years of college basketball while at SNC, where I was fortunate enough to win honors for the “Academic Athlete of the Year” in 2013.

What do you do outside the office?

I have been a huge sports fan my entire life and often times you can find me watching and cheering on my favorite Wisconsin sports teams, or attempting to play those various sports myself.

I value the relationships with family and friends the most and enjoy spending time with the people closest to me. I love being outdoors while fishing, hunting, or enjoying nature. I am a music fanatic, and although I avoided reading at all costs when I was younger, I now love to relax with a good book.

Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Why did Jenni choose lactation consulting?

“My experience with breastfeeding my children was by no means ideal; those difficulties created an interest in helping others.  I am now passionate about human milk and feeding difficulties.”

What is the best part of De Pere Smiles?

“Providing coordinated care that focuses on optimal function and feeding is incredible.  Multiple consultations and referrals can lead to delayed treatment and undermine the family unit.  Having dental and lactation evaluations in one location can decrease frustration and improve outcomes.  I am thrilled to be a part of the De Pere Smiles team!”

Jenni, Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

I was born in Milwaukee, WI and moved to the Green Bay area after marrying my high school sweetheart Rick.  After our children started school, I decided to become a registered nurse.  I graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College with honors in 2003 and was nominated to the All-USA Academic Team.  In 2015 graduated from University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Cum Laude and was inducted to the Honor Society of Nursing – Sigma Theta Tau International.

While working in Women and Infant’s Health, I found assisting breastfeeding families very fulfilling.  I started working at a local hospital, first as a lactation specialist and eventually becoming International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  I worked for that hospital 9 years but left in 2015 to start BFF – Breast Feeding Friend LLC to start a private practice providing home visits to families with feeding difficulties.

In 2015, I also started training in craniosacral, a light touch energy bodywork.  I have studied with Milne Institute and Still Mountain Institute.  Bringing this into my practice has allowed me to truly expand my breastfeeding support.

Away from the office I enjoy reading, watching movies, traveling and spending time with family.
